Burning of leaves and trash is prohibited by ordinance inside the city limits of the City of Hudson reference Code of Ordinances, Ordinance Chapter 8 Fire Prevention and Protection Article I, Article II, Article III and Article IV. This ordinance can be viewed by visiting the City of Hudson website and going to the codes, forms and permits section. Small recreational campfires are allowed as long as you are attending them. Campfires should be extinguished before leaving them. Campfires are to be contained by a stone or steal ring with a diameter of 36 to 48 inches and no more than 36 inches tall.
Reminder that Burning permits are Required for all open burning. Open Burning is defined as the burning of unwanted materials such as paper, trees, brush, leaves, grass and other debris where smoke and other emissions are released directly into the air that does not pass through a chimney or stack.
Those wishing to obtain a burn permit in Hudson Twp., Pittsford Twp. and the portions of Medina Twp covered by the Hudson Fire Department shall call the Hudson Fire Department at 517-448-2231 extension #1015 and leave a Voicemail with your name, address of where the burn will be, phone number, type and size of material wishing to be burned at least three days in advance of when you want to burn. Our station is not manned by fire personnel 24 hrs a day and therefore we check the Voicemail every few days and will call you back if your permit is approved. NO BURNING IS ALLOWED UNLESS PERMIT HAS BEEN CONFIRMED.
We are attempting to design a online permit form but have not been successful to this point.
